Designer Spotlight: Design Loft
At the heart of the Bay Area's luxury residential design scene stands Design Loft, a boutique firm passionate about design that works for you. Founded by visionary Hellen Hsieh, she and her team turn each client's challenge into each client’s smile. Their philosophy, rooted in what they call "compassionate design," prioritizes a deep understanding of each client’s unique needs and aspirations.

“Our goal is always to craft bespoke spaces that not only look beautiful but also reflect our clients' passions,” says Hsieh. “A home should be a sanctuary, and the materials we choose play a huge role in achieving that feeling of balance and comfort.”
In a recent project, Design Loft crafted a timeless yet calming bathroom retreat by balancing cool and warm elements. As homeowners seek spaces that feel both modern and inviting, cool tones bring an air of tranquility, while warm materials introduce comfort and character. This project is a testament to that philosophy, blending refined textures with a thoughtful color palette for a space that is both stylish and enduring.
The Power of Material Selection
Every design choice contributes to the overall atmosphere of a space, and in this project, material selection played a defining role. The floor tile, sourced from our in-stock Stones 2.0 porcelain tile collection in Amani Bronze, grounds the space with its deep, rich tones, providing a striking contrast that enhances the room’s depth and dimension. The quartz countertop further elevates the design, offering a sleek, low-maintenance surface that balances durability with elegance.
The walls are clad in honed Carrara marble tile, bringing a classic luxury to the space with its subtle veining and soft, sophisticated finish. “One of the things I love most about this project is the way the natural marble plays with the light,” Hsieh notes. “The veining creates movement, giving the space a quiet energy that feels both organic and refined.”
To introduce a layer of texture and visual interest, a polished herringbone mosaic accent tile was chosen. Its natural color variation not only complements the marble beautifully but also creates a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, elevating the overall design. For the shower pan, a basketweave marble mosaic in Carrara and Turkish Grey adds a refined yet timeless touch.
